Brown Sugar Ham

This is my favorite recipe for baking a whole ham. The brown sugar caramelizes and creates the most delicious crispy edges. And bonus, your house will smell amazing while this is baking! Who needs candles!?! 😀

8-10 lb Bone-in Smoked Ham
3/4 C – 1 C Dijon Mustard
1 lb Brown Sugar
12 oz can Dr. Pepper, Coke or Pepsi (not diet)

Allow ham to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before preparing.

Preheat oven to 300°. Move oven rack to lower third of oven. Remove and discard skin from ham if necessary.

Place ham in a 9 x 13 baking dish.

Generously coat with mustard. Pat on brown sugar. Pour soda into bottom of baking dish.

Bake uncovered 2.5 – 3 hours or until internal temperature reaches 140 degrees. Baste once an hour.

When ham is finished baking, remove from oven and tent with foil for 20 minutes before placing on cutting
